Technically skilled people are greatly in demand and skilled workforce is now a major area of concern. According to the Economic Survey 2014-15, the present skilled force in India is just 2% which is quite less than as compared to any developing country. The number persons aged 15 years receiving technical skill is merely 6.8%. To understand the need of technical skilled people Ministry of Labor and Employment, Union Government of India has taken several initiatives by establishing various technical institutes and poly techniques that impart technical skills to the aspirants.

Industrial Training Institutes (ITI’s) are government running organizations that offer post school technical skills to the students. Industrial Training centers (ITC’s) are its privately run equivalents and both of them are constituted under the Directorate General of Employment & Training (DGET), Ministry of Labor and Employment, Union Government of India. These institutes impart both technical as well as non-technical training to the young boys and girls who have passed their 10th class examination and want to pursue a career in technical field. The main objective of the various courses offered by these IITs and ITC’s is to provide the sufficient manpower to rapidly growing industrial sector of the country.

After completion of their courses student has to undergo practical training in his trade in an industry for one year or two which is mandatory to appear for National Council of Vocational Training (NCVT) certificate which is very much required for applying jobs in relevant categories. Some of the courses offered by these ITI’s include Electrician, fitter, diesel mechanic, computer hardware and software, Ac/ Refrigeration etc. Students can even join some specialized short term courses as well to further enhance their skills in Advanced Training Institutes ATI’s. Each and every ITI has its own official website from where students can download all the necessary information. Students can visit that offers complete up to date information regarding all the ITI’s in various states of country from where they can directly download the application form, online check the result , selection criteria, courses offered by them etc. to get admission in them.
